In our “Itinerary Writer Spotlight” series, we interview our newest Unanchor writers and find out more about their city. Enjoy!

1.Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do?
I’m Christine, a Seattle native who ditched the cookie-cutter path of ´”graduate college, work, settle down” and moved away to Spain to travel, learn Spanish and immerse myself in a new culture.
2. In 4 sentences or less, how would you describe Seattle?
Seattle is completely underrated. People who brush it off for the rumors of incessant rain don’t know what they’re missing. It’s a city that offers all of the culture to rival any other major city, but few can rival its natural beauty
3. What are the top 2 things to do/see in Seattle?
Eat. Seriously! Seattle has an incredible food scene and you haven’t experienced it until you’ve sampled everything from the food trucks in Capitol Hill to the high-brow downtown establishments. Seattle offers amazing fresh seafood, locally produced wines/cheeses and we brew delicious beer as well as coffee.
Go outside. Seattle has been voted the most active city by several magazines for a reason. Surrounded by lakes and mountains, there’s no shortage of outdoor activities to do. Go canoeing on Lake Washington, hiking, or simply spread out a blanket and picnic at one of the many city parks.
4. What are the top 3 tourist traps to avoid in Seattle?
The Ride the Ducks Tours. They take place in these huge, ridiculous WWII landing crafts that can go on both land and water. Apparently, the captains who drive these things around are pretty hilarious, but it’s just completely not my style of tourism. But hey, they’re around for a reason, but have no qualms about being painted a tourist.
Going to the top of the Space Needle. The view is nice, but Seattle is full of amazing views. At around $20 a pop, this is an overpriced sight. My guide gives a money-saving alternative to this!
Experience Music Project. Unless you’re a die-hard Seattle music fan, spend your money and time elsewhere. It focuses on only a few artists and is frankly quite boring.
5. What made you fall in love with Seattle?
Seattle strikes the perfect balance between big city modernity and an undeniably laid-back nature. I love that every neighborhood in Seattle is so different from the next and there is no shortage of things to do. Not to mention, summertime in Seattle is absolutely breath-taking!
6. Where else can we find your work/writing?
I blog about my life in Spain and travels at http://www.christineinspain.com or you can Tweet me @christinenspain
